Imam Abu Hanifah

Nama kecilnya adalah Nu’man bin Tsabit, lahir di Kufah pada tahun 80 H.(696 M) dan meninggal di kota Kufah tahun 150 H (767 M) dan pada tahun kewafatanya lahir Imam Syafi’i. Kakek beliau bernama Zautha berasal dari kota Kabul. Pada zaman khulafurrasidin, Utsman bin Affan ketika menaklukan negara-negara Persia, Khurasan, dan Afganistan, ia ditawan karena termasuk salah seorang pembesar dari negeri yang ditaklukan. Dan kemudian Zautha dijadikan budak oleh bani Taim bin Tsa’abah, keturunan arab dari suku Quraisy ,iapun masuk islam. Kemudian ia dimerdekakan dan memilih tempat kediaman di kota Kuffah. Dan di kuffah inilah lahir bapaknya nu’man bernama Tsabit.
